The death penalty, regional integration and migration were?? among the topics discussed, when Ambassador of Switzerland to Barbados, Marcus Alexander Antoinetti, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart.

During the wide-ranging discussion at Government Headquarters on Bay Street, last Wednesday, the two counterparts exchanged information about the economic and social issues that had impacted both countries, in particular, unemployment.

Prime Minister Stuart chronicled the various attempts at integration, dating back to the political federation during the period 1958-1962 – to the present CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

The Swiss Ambassador and Prime Minister Stuart, agreed that even though both nations were strict guardians of their sovereignty, they also had an excellent working relationship with their neighbours.

Barbados and Switzerland established diplomatic relations on March 4, 1980.??
