As more focus is being placed on tackling stigma and discrimination within the workplace, one Government agency is ensuring that it meets its mandate of educating and increasing public awareness about HIV.

To this end, the International Business Division???s HIV Committee will host the second production of an HIV Edutainment event entitled: An Afternoon of Intrigue, this Friday, February 20, at the Division of Commerce, Reef Road, St. Michael, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss, will be in attendance.

It forms part of the Division???s continuing 2014-2015 HIV/AIDS programme, which speaks to one of the more at risk populations, men who have sex with men. Themed: HIV and Men ??? The Unspoken Truth, the programme is being held in accordance with the Government of Barbados??? National Strategic Plan 2014-2018.

The HIV message will be promoted in a dynamic and exciting manner, while exposing the Ministry???s staff to biases and prejudices within the workplace against the key population of HIV-affected and non-affected persons. It therefore seeks to bring about behavioural change.

The session is being produced for the staff of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Small Business Development, and sectors such as the Cooperatives Department, the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation and the National Council for Science and Technology.

It will be followed by refreshments and a question-and-answer session on Stigma, Discrimination and Human Rights in the Workplace, featuring Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, UWI, Cave Hill Campus, Wesmin James.
