The Telecommunications Unit is in the process of implementing a new Spectrum Management Software System which will facilitate more efficient spectrum administration.
Prior to the system becoming operational, it is crucial that the Unit collects data comprising technical specifications as it pertains to licensees’ equipment. The information will assist not only in updating the Telecommunications Unit’s records, but is also required in order to effectively and efficiently manage spectrum assignments and enhance the spectrum coordination function of the department.??
During the six-month data collection exercise, which will commence on Monday, March 1, officers of the department will be contacting and visiting licensees in order to obtain the data. The license categories of interest are: land mobile, broadcast, fixed wireless, fixed satellite, radio location, aeronautical, microwave, and cellular.??
