The Government of Barbados will be conducting a survey to assess the attitudes of Barbadians to the COVID-19 vaccine.

The telephone survey will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Management utilising a team comprised of students from the National Give Back Programme and members of District Emergency Organisations.

To carry out the survey, it is envisaged that the team will make telephone calls to approximately 900 households in all 30 Electoral Districts.

The team of 18 interviewers were given an orientation and training session on February 3. The survey is expected to start on February 4 and to take 2 days.

Questions related to whether or not persons would be willing to take the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available and factors which shape their attitudes towards the vaccine will be posed to interviewees.

Members of the public are assured of the highest standard of confidentiality.  No names or identifying information will be used anywhere in the survey. All responses to the survey will be confidential and will be compiled and analysed as a group.

Participation in the survey is completely voluntary. However, the public is encouraged to cooperate with the interviewers as the results will help the Government to better understand the public’s perceptions of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This will in turn inform a public education programme on matters relating to COVID, including vaccination.
