The Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport advises the public that the temporary suspension on the importation and licensing of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, also known as Unmanned Aircraft Systems or drones, has been extended for a further 12 months.

However, the Division has advised that Cabinet has approved “the temporary exemption, on a case-by-case basis, for drones which are imported and exported immediately after usage”.

The prohibition on drones, which took effect on April 1, 2016, was implemented to allow the authorities to complete a legal framework to govern the use of these devices in Barbados.
