Motorists travelling along Highway 1 between Holetown and Porters Great House will be temporarily diverted, beginning Sunday, July 28.
The traffic diversions are to facilitate the installation of flood alleviation structures (culverts, trenches, grass swales), as part of the Adaptation Measures to Counter the Effects of Climate Change (AMCECC) Project, also known as the ‘Ridge to Reef’ Project.
The diversions will be carried out in a two-part process. Part one of the process, which starts this Sunday, will see northbound traffic turn right by Sunset Crest Mall and travel along Flamboyant Avenue and Hibiscus Avenue to Seaview Road.
Southbound traffic will be diverted at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre to Cherry Avenue connecting to Mayhoe Avenue.
Seaview Road will remain open for two-way traffic as normal, and Mayhoe Avenue will remain open, but only for one-way southbound traffic, except between Flamboyant and Highway 1, where it is two-way.
Part two of the diversions begin on Wednesday, August 7. Between Highway C at Trents Playing Field and Porters Road will be closed, and southbound traffic will be diverted on a one-way via Trents Tenantry Road, while northbound traffic will need to divert at Highway C, and use Ronald Mapp Highway, returning by Porters Road.
Local access will be provided for residents, businesses and government offices. During the traffic diversions, signage, along with contractor personnel, will be in place during the day to assist with traffic management.
The public is advised to adhere to all temporary traffic signage and instructions from contractor personnel.
