The access to the main entrance of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from this afternoon, Thursday, April, 5, in order for the area directly under the canopy to be repaved.

This area was resurfaced in January, this year; however, it was not completely dry when traffic started traversing the roadway, and this compromised the surface.

"We have scheduled the resurfacing work for this weekend, to start earlier so as to ensure that the area is completely dry before we reopen on Monday morning," explained Paula Agbowu, Director of Engineering Services, at the QEH.

She said: "While this work is in progress, pedestrians will still have access to the main entrance; however, vehicular traffic will be diverted to the private entrance and security personnel will be re-deployed to assist with the traffic flow.

We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause and we look forward to the public’s cooperation."
