(BTI)

The Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. (BTI) wishes to inform the public that due to the ongoing construction of Phase Three of the Constitution River Project the Weymouth B pasture will not be accessible to the public.

During this work, pedestrians wishing to access Queen’s Park into The City via the Weymouth B pasture opposite the old Globe Cinema or from Queen’s Park via Weymouth B heading to Tweedside Road and surrounding areas will now have to utilise the sidewalks along Halls Road.

The temporary closure of the pasture access points is to ensure the safety of the residents and the public.

The BTI thanks members of the public for their patience and understanding as it continues to transform the city of Bridgetown.

Constitution River Redevelopment Phase 3

Construction of Phase 3, the final phase of the Constitution River Project, has commenced. This phase runs inland to the James A. Tudor Roundabout and will significantly enhance the drainage capacity of the channel.

The benefits include:

  • The eradication of water-borne vectors, as mosquitoes will be unable to breed in the channel because of marine life and salinity of the water, and improvement of the water quality due to the inflows of sea water.
  • The beautification of the riverbanks and environs, along with reduction of flooding in the communities of Halls Road and Ellis Village.

The contractors are C.O. Williams, and the project should be completed in 18 months. The Constitution River Enhancement is a project of the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc.
