Government is inviting tenders from eligible firms from member countries of the Inter-American Develop Bank (IDB) to undertake a consultancy to review and update the Barbados National Standards which are published by the Barbados National Standards Institution.

The assignment is for a six- month period and would involve the development of an appropriate and sustainable methodological approach to reviewing the Barbados National Standards.

According to the Project Coordinator of the Modernisation of the Barbados National Standards Systems Project, Fabian Griffin, the methodology must "remain relevant and applicable following the completion of the consultancy".

Interested firms must show evidence of past experience in working on such projects.??In addition, the firms should demonstrate the availability of skilled personnel who possess a post graduate degree in Pure or Natural Sciences, or any related discipline, with at least five years’ experience in writing or developing standards.

Alternatively, the competent workers should have a Bachelor’s degree in Pure or Natural Sciences or a related discipline plus at least 10 years’ experience in writing or developing standards, or 15 years’ experience in writing or developing standards.
