Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Patrick Todd??

Tertiary institutions and their programmes of study in Barbados will soon have the opportunity to be accredited by the Barbados Accreditation Council, (BAC).

Word of this came from Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Patrick Todd, as he delivered the feature address at last Tuesday’s launch of the Core Group of the Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE).

According to Minister Todd, the accreditation process will provide public acknowledgement that an institution or its programmes has met strict standards of quality.

??"Accreditation reflects an institution’s commitment to self analysis and external review by peers. It also suggests that an institution is continually seeking to enhance the quality of its educational provisions," he outlined.

Commending the BAC for its role in enhancing the quality of post secondary/tertiary educational provision in Barbados, Mr. Todd also urged the local network of tertiary providers to "strive towards a cohesive and sustainable relationship with its stakeholders in order to achieve a culture of quality assurance".
