World Champion hurdler, Ryan Brathwaite, posing with his gold medal during a motorcade last week to celebrate his homecoming.

This Wednesday, September 23, is "Ryan Brathwaite Day" at The Lester Vaughan School, his alma mater.

Staff and students will celebrate his achievements during a half-day programme, which will include dance, poetry, song and messages from former team-mates who are currently overseas.

Ryan is expected to arrive at the St. Thomas-based institution at 9:00 a.m., where he will be met by a guard of honour.

The 21-year-old won the gold medal in the 110 metres hurdles at the International Amateur Federation’s World Championships in Berlin last month, in a time of 13:14 seconds. Since his homecoming last Thursday, Ryan has been honoured at several events for his outstanding feat.
