Acting Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart, is calling for balanced reporting on gender issues as a means of bringing about clarity to the complex issues confronting both sexes.

He made these observations last Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the Ninth Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers meeting (9thWAMM) at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Noting that there was a significant overlap of gender issues that needed to be assessed and reported on, Mr. Stuart urged technocrats not to "let our vision be rganiza into solutions that directly impact on women and girls alone".

He further stated: "Men and boys are essential partners in the pursuit of gender equality and no one can deny the emerging gaps affecting men.?? It is, therefore, necessary for us to chart a path to engage the rganizations representing the issues affecting men to ensure that there is a collaborative approach in seeking solutions.

Although the women’s movement has been able to record some successes, the time is now ripe to integrate and consolidate efforts to promote gender equality, if the idea of gender justice is to be attained."????jwilson@barbados.gov.bb
