The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council and its staff recently gave back to their Christ Church community when they made a monetary donation and presented vouchers to the students of the Arthur Smith Primary School.
Since moving to its Hastings House West, Balmoral Gap location in September 2015, the Council has made it a priority to be good neighbours, first establishing a relationship with the St. Matthias Church, and later in 2018, establishing a relationship with the primary school, where they provided Christmas gifts for the students.
This became an annual event, with students receiving stationery, school clothes, non-perishable food items, gift cards, and much more from the Council.
Last Tuesday, the school was presented with a monetary donation of $550.00, along with vouchers from the Popular Supermarket.
“We felt it was part of our corporate responsibility, part of being a good neighbour, to contribute in a meaningful way to the community, and we felt that the school would facilitate this because children from the community attend the school,” the Council’s Administrative Officer, Shirleen Inniss stated during the presentation to the school.
Principal of the Arthur Smith Primary School Wilma McClean accepted the donation saying: “Thank you very much to the TVET Council, on behalf of the staff and students of the Arthur Smith School. I want to say a hearty thank you for this donation as it will go a long way towards assisting the students at the school and it will help with any devices or any future things that students will need in terms of online education.”
