“Walking the tightrope, balancing competing interests in pursuit of good public policy,” will be the focus of the third annual lecture being hosted by the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) next Friday evening, February 23.  Visiting attorney-at-law, Ashley Browne, will deliver the lecture which takes place at the Hilton, Barbados at 7:30 p.m.

The FTC will also be hosting a seminar earlier that same day from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Savannah Hotel.  It will focus on “Regulatory decision making; what are the stakeholders entitled to expect”.

Mr. Browne, an attorney with the Boston Law firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene and McRae LLP, is well versed in the topic and has authored numerous legal publications. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on regulatory, infrastructure and energy policy matters worldwide.

He is also the Executive Director of the Harvard Electricity Policy Group at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a leading think tank on matters related to electricity restructuring, regulation and market formation.

Mr. Browne was a Commissioner of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio from 1983 to 1993.  He holds a BS from Bowling Green State University and an M.A from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Minister of Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Business Development, Senator Lynette Eastmond, will give the opening remarks at next Friday’s lecture.
