Tomorrow, Friday, September 10, members of the public are being asked to "pause and pray" at noon as a mark of respect for the six young women who perished in last Friday’s fire in Tudor Street, The City.

Prime Minister David Thompson made this request in the wake of the tragedy and has urged everyone to observe three minutes of silence- where all activity- including speech, the movement of individuals and vehicular traffic, will come to a standstill.

The police and fire service will initiate a siren alert 20 seconds before noon to signal the start of the three minutes; and this will be repeated at the end. Similarly, a number of churches affiliated to the Barbados Christian Council will toll their bells 20 seconds prior to the start of the "pause and pray" (at 11:59:40) and again at the end of the event.

Radio stations will also use the siren alert just before midday tomorrow and at the end of the three minutes.??clashley@barbados.gov.bb
