Relatives of those who gave their lives during the two World Wars and any members of the public desirous of being seated for the Remembrance Day Service, may collect tickets from Cabinet Office, Government Headquarters, Bay Street, St. Michael, weekdays, between 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Remembrance Day will be observed this year on Sunday, November 11, with the holding of a short interdenominational service at the War Memorial in National Heroes Square, The City, beginning at 8: 00 a.m.
At the conclusion of two minutes of silence and the sounding of the Last Post, wreaths will be laid at the Cenotaph by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave and Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, followed by other specially invited guests including members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Any private individual wishing to lay a wreath may do so at the conclusion of the Service. However, such individuals should notify the Cabinet Office so that the appropriate arrangements may be made.
Armed units of the Barbados Defence Force’s Guard of Honour, the Barbados Coast Guard, the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Cadet Corps will be on parade.
Unarmed units will comprise members of the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Girl Guides’ Association, the bands of the Barbados Cadet Corps and the Royal Barbados Police Force, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Red Cross and the Barbados Boy Scouts’ Association. Members of the Barbados Legion will also be on parade.
