In an effort to encourage tourism awareness among primary and secondary school students, the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) is again staging its regional children’s essay contest.

This year’s theme is "What Can my Destination do to Become More Competitive in the Global Tourism Market?"??

The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students and will be conducted in two categories. Participants in the junior division must be 12 years of age and under (contestants must not have passed their 13th birthday by September 26, 2010, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, ‘, NULL, NULL, 0); while, in the senior division contestants should be between 13 to 16 years of age (contestants must not have passed their 17th birthday by September 26, 2010).

Each student must submit one essay of approximately 300 to 500 words in length, written in English, on the identified topic. They will be judged on content/subject, creativity, style/structure and grammar, in three rounds. The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 14, 2010.

Entries must be accompanied by the following information:?? the student’s country, name, address, date of birth, home telephone number, the school’s name, address and telephone number, and the name of the principal.??

The FCCA will award cash scholarships to the first, second and third place winners from the two age categories. In the junior and senior divisions, US$3,000, $1,500 and $1,000 will be awarded, respectively. The winning schools will also be awarded similarly.

In addition, the two first place winners, (one from each age category) will be invited to read their essays and accept their prizes at the FCCA Caribbean Cruise Conference in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from October 25 to 29, 2010.?? All travel expenses for each winner and one chaperone will be paid by the FCCA.

To reward students for their efforts, all finalists (except first, second and third place winners in each category) submitted by their countries will receive US $200.
