The public is reminded that today, Tuesday, March 15 is World Consumer Rights Day.

This year???s theme: Antibiotics off the Menu, will seek to tackle a major international public health crisis, as Consumers International and its members continue to lobby the world???s largest fast food companies to make global commitments to stop serving meat from animals that are routinely given the same antibiotics that are used in human medicine.

To mark the occasion, a public awareness programme hosted by the Ministry of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, will take place in Jubilee Gardens today from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Booths will be set up where information will be disseminated and presentations made by the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, the Office of the Public Counsel and the Barbados National Standards Institute. Minister Donville Inniss, will deliver the feature address at 9:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
