Important messages on HIV and AIDS and other health issues will be given to patrons who attend the Health, Wellness and Safety Awareness Fest of the Ministry of Tourism, next week in Independence Square, Bridgetown.

The event, which will be staged under the HIV/AIDS Programme of the Ministry of Tourism will target, the general public, in particular.

It will be held on Wednesday, July 29, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., under the theme "Time for Change", and will be supported by a multi-sectoral team comprising the Ministries of Labour and Health; the Royal Barbados Police Force; the Barbados Defence Force; the Psychiatric Hospital; the Dialysis Centre; the Centre for Complementary Medicine, Soothing Touch Da’ Spa; Stansfeld Scott and Co. Ltd and Brydens.

Patrons will have the opportunity to get their blood pressure and sugar levels checked, as well as access the voluntary counseling and testing that will be provided for HIV. They will also be treated to displays on Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid. Information on issues related to occupational heath and safety and occupational therapy will also be given.

Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy will address the start of the event at 10:00 a.m.
