The Tivoli Gardens incident and its impact on the Jamaican tourism sector will come into sharp focus next month, when the Ministry of Tourism hosts the 5th Annual Multi-Hazard Disaster Management Symposium.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday, August 18, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m to noon.

Tourism stakeholders will hear a detailed presentation from Director-General in Jamaica’s Ministry of Tourism, Carrolle Guntley, on the topic: Tourism and Disasters -When the Unexpected Strikes.

Ms. Guntley will speak on the Tivoli Gardens incident and its impact on the tourism industry and what lessons can be learnt by Barbados’ tourism stakeholders.
