A 19-member delegation of key tourism officials are set to visit the Hainan Province in the People???s Republic of China later this month, to attend a Bilateral Tourism Management Seminar.

The seminar, which will run from October 13 to November 2, is expected to foster deeper relations between Barbados and China; expose participants to Chinese tourism management practices; exchange best practices; and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Lectures will be held at the China Aid Base of Training Center of the Commercial Department in the Hainan Province.

The topics include: Tourism Sales and Marketing Management and Product Development; New Forms of Business in China???s Tourism; the Design and Development of Special Tourism Products; Health and Wellness Tourism; the Management of Human Resources for Hotels; and the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development of the Tourism Sector.

Delegates will also tour a number of hotels and tourist attractions. Hotels to be visited include those in Haikou, Sanya City, and Xi???an City in the Shanxi Province. Attractions on the itinerary include Hainan Museum; the Tropical Birds Garden in Ding An City; Boao Temple in Qionghai City; the Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden in Wanning; Banpo Museum; and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Museum.

The group is expected to leave for China on Saturday, October 10, and comprises representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Intimate Hotels Group, the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, Barbados Tourism Management Incorporation, Barbados Tourism Product Authority, Needham???s Point Holdings, the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries and the Barbados-China Association.
