Persons who support this nation’s most vital industry will be honoured over the next week when Tourism Week 2011 begins.

The week, which was officially launched on Wednesday at George Washington House, Bush Hill, The Garrison, St. Michael, will focus on Achieving Success Through Service Excellence and will feature a range of events to celebrate the contributions of the sector.

Activities begin on Saturday, December 10 when industry employees and the public will participate in a Sundown Beach Walk, beginning at Payne’s Bay, St. James and ending with a barbecue at Folkestone Park, St. James. Attendees should assemble at the Coastal Zone Management Unit, Bay Street, St. Michael at 3:00 p.m. Interested persons should contact the Ministry of Tourism for complimentary tickets.

A call to worship will come on Sunday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. with a church service at the Carrington Wesleyan Holiness Church, Welches Road, St. Michael.

Students will ???hit the road’ on Monday, December 12 for the Tourists for the Day outing, where participating schools will enjoy Jitney Bus tours of Bridgetown and its Historic Garrison, along with visits to the Parliamentary Museum and the Jewish Synagogue.

Then, on Wednesday, December 14, the public is invited to participate in the historic Launch of the Change of Sentry at George Washington House at 10:00 a.m., where there will also be opportunities to tour the property.

Barbadians will have the chance to ???play the tourist’ on Thursday, December 15 and Dine Around, when various restaurants will offer lunch and dinner specials.?? Tourism Week 2012 activities will round off with the launch of the Barbados Arts and Craft Experience Pilot Project, which will see tourists create their own souvenirs and experience Bajan culture at its best.
