Tourism Week 2012 ended on a high note, when the Bajan Pride Expo headed to Chalky Mount, St. Andrew last Saturday.
Addressing the gathering of locals and tourists, Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, observed that "We talk about the relationship between agriculture and tourism. .[and] tourism and the international business sector, but there is also a very strong relationship between manufacturing and tourism," he said, adding that Chalky Mount had long had a connection with the industry, as a source of pottery souvenirs.
Noting that the event was taking place on the official start date of the tourism winter season, Minister Sealy noted that "…the last event could arguably be the most important in bringing home the connection between tourism and our communities, tourism and not only the economy, but tourism and our culture and our society and that is what this event is all about," he said.
The Bajan Pride Expo, which featured local arts and craft, cuisine, music and karaoke, in partnership with Q in the Community, was the final event for Tourism Week 2012.
