The beginning of the yuletide season will also mark celebrations to recognise the tourism industry, when Tourism Week 2012 begins.

Events, which will run from Sunday, December 9 to Saturday, December 15, will provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about the industry and interact with its various stakeholders.

Activities will begin with a church service at the United Holy Church of America, Mount Olive, Grosvenor’s Road, Carrington Village, St. Michael on Sunday, December 9, at 8:00 a.m.?? That evening, the public is invited to follow in the footsteps of our forefathers, with a Heritage Walk through Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison, from 3:00 p.m.?? Interested persons should contact the Ministry of Tourism at 430-7500 to register.

A lecture on Non-Accidental Tourists: The Importance of the African Diaspora to Stimulate Modern Tourism will be the featured event on Monday, December 10, when Dr. Elaine Rocha addresses this topic at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, Cave Hill, St. Michael, beginning ??at 7:00 p.m.??

Tourism awareness will be the focus on Tuesday, December 11, when industry personnel take part in the launch of the Barbados Tourism Information Guide 2012 and a presentation of a training Tourism Tool at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa, Rockley, Christ Church starting at 9:00 a.m.

During the midweek, representatives from throughout the industry travel from the Barbados Tourism Authority Headquarters, Harbour Road to independence Square, the City, for the Tourism Week Parade on Wednesday, December 12, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The activity for Thursday, December 13, will see Fast Five netball and 20/20 cricket games at the Dover Playing Field, Dover, Christ Church from 7:00 p.m.; while on Friday, December 14, Oistins Bay Garden will play host to the Tourism Togetherness Concert from 8:00 p.m., with featured artists Sahara, Black Amour and Teen Talent Winner, Jabari Hurdle.??

Tourism Week 2012 will culminate in the hills of Chalky Mount, St. Andrew with the Bajan Pride Expo: Christmas Edition on Saturday, December 15.?? Activities will begin at 2:00 p.m. with karaoke from Q in the Community, and will feature local goods, including pottery, jewellery, confectionary and live entertainment from.
