The Ministry of Community Development and Culture, will be hosting a town hall meeting to sensitise the public about the possible nomination of historic Bridgetown and the Garrison, St. Michael, as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, August 20, in the National Union of Public Workers’ Horatio Cook Auditorium, Dalkeith, St. Michael, starting at 6:00 p.m.

During the session, representatives from the Ministry will highlight the importance of the nomination to Barbados; identify historic places and spaces in Bridgetown and the Garrison area; outline the cultural significance of these sites and pinpoint the spin-off benefits of the nomination to residents and businesses in the vicinity.

Apart from identifying the benefits to be accrued if Barbados’ nomination is successful, residents would also be informed how they can participate in the process.

Further information on the event may be obtained by contacting Donna Greene, at telephone number 310-2720, or Kimberley Alleyne, at 310-2746, or via email at kimberleyalleyne@hotmail.com.
