On Sunday, November 27, the Independence Ecumenical Service will be held in Independence Square, the City, at 4:00 p.m.

Consequently, the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) has advised that between 1:00 and 7:00 p.m., motorists will not be allowed to traverse or park on roads near Independence Square, except for the purpose of picking up or setting down passengers.

These roads include Fairchild Street, Probyn Street, Bridge Street, Lower Bay Street, Upper Wharf Road, River Road, and Upper Cavans Lane, in the City.

In addition, during those hours, Lower Bay Street to Lower Fairchild Street and the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Furthermore, traffic on Bay Street from its junction with Jemmotts Lane will be one way to Lower Bay Street. This is to facilitate persons attending the service or going to the pleasure cruises at Cavans Lane.

Vehicles coming from River Road on to Upper Fairchild Street must turn left on to Probyn Street, right on to Upper Bay Street and proceed to their destination.

Motorists coming from St. Michael’s Row should turn right on to Palmetto Street, or turn left on Bridge Street, then make a right and proceed along the Wharf Road.

Vehicular traffic coming from Broad Street must make a left turn on to High Street or Palmetto Street, respectively.

Transport Board buses coming from Belmont Road or Crumpton Street should proceed to John Beckles Drive and turn left or right respectively on to John Beckles Drive, while those from Upper Bay Street should turn right at Jemmotts Lane and proceed towards the bus terminal via River Road.

Anyone using the roads specified is advised to exercise caution and to comply with any instruction given by a member of the RBPF in uniform.
