The Throne Speech will be delivered by Governor General, Sir Elliott Belgrave in the Senate Chamber this Wednesday, March 6, beginning at 4:00 p.m. to usher in a new session of Parliament. As a result, some traffic changes will be in effect.

A number of roads will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2:30 until 8:00 p.m. They are: Trafalgar Street, Broad Street from its junction with Prince William Henry Street to its junction with High Street, and Wharf Road.

In addition, vehicular traffic will not be allowed to traverse Fairchild Street onto the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge between these times.

Furthermore, between 2:30 and 8:00 p.m., parking will not be permitted on; Belmont Road, Constitution Road, Martindales Road, St. Michael Row, Bridge Street, Trafalgar Street, Magazine Lane, Palmetto Street, Rickett Street, Fairchild Street, Lower Bay Street, Jemmotts Lane, River Road and John Beckles Drive.

Police officers will be posted at all locations to ensure compliance with these regulations. The Royal Barbados Police Force has asked for the public’s cooperation in this regard.

The public is also advised that admittance to the ceremony will be by invitation only and consequently, the Public Gallery will be closed to viewing.
