A number of traffic changes will be put in place to facilitate the National Independence Ecumenical Service, which will be held in Independence Square next Sunday, November 22, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

From 3:00 p.m. on that day, there will be traffic restrictions on Fairchild Street, from its junction with Bay Street to its juncture with Probyn Street; and Bay Street, from its junction with Wellington Street to its intersection with Cavans Lane.?? The Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge will be closed at 3:30 p.m. These restrictions will be removed at the end of the service.

Public service vehicles travelling on Bay Street towards the City will be diverted at Jemmotts Lane, while Transport Board omnibuses travelling on Crumpton Street and Constitution Road will be re-routed onto John Beckles Drive. Two-way vehicular traffic will be permitted on Bay Street, between Fairchild Street and Probyn Street.

Vehicles will not be allowed to park or remain stationary on Bay Street, Fairchild Street, Bridge Street, River Road or Wellington Street, except for the purpose of setting down or picking up passengers.

Police officers will be posted at several junctions, while provisional traffic signs will also be displayed to assist with vehicle control.

Meanwhile, parking for specially invited guests attending the service will be in the car park of the Barbados Tourism Inc., Lower Bay Street. The vehicles will carry a blue sticker, bearing the letters BTI in black.
