The public is advised that as a result of an approved media event scheduled to be held in and throughout the City of Bridgetown during the period Wednesday, March 10, to Friday, March 12, there will be several road traffic changes that will affect several roadways at various stages to facilitate the event.
The management of these closures will be done using a multi-tiered approach. Please note that several persons including proprietors of businesses in Bridgetown and motorists will be affected and should expect to be diverted or held up due to the procession.
Vehicles will not be allowed to park or remain stationary on any of the routes during this period. In addition, no unauthorised members of the public will be allowed to enter or remain in these areas during the closure. Members of the Royal Barbados Police Force will be on duty to assist with the directing of traffic.
TIER 1: ROAD CLOSURES WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10 AND FRIDAY, MARCH 12, 2021
On event days commencing Wednesday, March 10 until Friday, March 12, the following roads will be closed to vehicular between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and traffic control points shall be in effect to facilitate road closures in the following areas:
- Chapel Street from its junction with Hart Street to its junction with Prince Alfred Street.
- Prince Alfred Street from its junction with Chapel Street to its junction with Lower Broad Street (only the left lane will be closed).
- Suttle Street from its junction with Reed Street to its junction with Tudor Street (the movement of commercial vehicles will be controlled by police officers in uniform).
TIER 2: TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10 AND FRIDAY, MARCH 12, 2021
On event days commencing Wednesday, March 10, until Friday, March 12, 2021, the following roads will be temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Cavans Lane
- Tudor Street
- Suttle Street
- Milk Market
- Chapel Street
- Prince Alfred Street from its junction with Chapel Street to its junction with Lower Broad Street
- Wharf Road
- Shepherd Street
- Liverpool Lane
- Philadelphia Lane
- Parry Street
- Chamberlain Bridge
- BoardWalk
- NB: There will be barriers erected to assist with this endeavour at Chapel Street with its junction at Hart Street.
TIER 3: TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
The following restrictions will take effect from 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10 until Friday, March 12, 2021 on the following days listed below.
Wednesday, March 10 and Friday, March 12, 2021
- Traffic travelling into Bridgetown along Baxters Road will be restricted from travelling straight on to Tudor Street and maybe diverted at Mason Hall Street.
- Traffic travelling along Reed Street will be restricted from turning left on to Suttle Street and will be diverted on to St. Mary’s Row.
- Traffic travelling along St. Mary’s Row will be restricted from turning left on to Chapel Street and will continue straight along Hart Street on to Cowell Street.
- Traffic along Cheapside will be restricted from continuing straight on to Chapel Street and will be diverted left along Hart Street and continue straight on to Cowell Street.
- Traffic on Tudor Street will be restricted from continuing straight on to Prince Alfred Street using double lanes. The left lane will be closed to vehicular traffic.
N.B. REVERSE TRAFFIC FLOW
Please note that there will be a reversal of the flow of traffic for the following:
- Prince Alfred Street, going against the one-way traffic direction.
- Turning right on to Chapel Street, going against one-way traffic direction.
- Turning left on to Milk Market, going against one-way traffic direction.
- Turning left on to Suttle Street, going against one-way traffic direction.

- Traffic along Bridge Street will be restricted from turning right onto Wharf Road.
- Traffic on Wharf Road will be restricted from continuing straight onto Parry Street and Hincks Street
- Traffic on Broad Street will be restricted from turning right onto Prince William Henry Street.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS
On event days commencing Wednesday, March 10 until Friday, March 12, 2021, there will be no parking allowed on the following roads:
- Wharf Road
- Parry Street,
- Bridge Street,
- Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge
- Broad Street
- Tudor Street
- Suttle Street
- Milk Market
- Chapel Street
- Prince Alfred Street
