Blind and visually impaired Barbadians interested in using computer technology should soon be able to do so.

Nine persons, including five sighted individuals, have just completed a five-day workshop on Access Software Technology Disability Training for the Blind and Visually Impaired.??It was conducted by the National Disabilities Unit (NDU), with training provided by Donna Rogalski of FAVACA in Florida.

According to Director of the NDU, Errol Best, those persons will now be responsible for teaching other blind and visually impaired individuals to use the software.??

Access Software used were: JAWS (Job Access with Speech), MAGic (Screen Magnification/Reading Software Programme), Open Book (Scan and Reading Software Programme) and SARA (Scan and Read Appliance).????

Participants will be presented with certificates on Monday, May 18, at 11:30 p.m. in the Information Technology Room, downstairs of the National Union of Public Workers Headquarters, Dalkeith House, Dalkeith, St. Michael.
