Minister of Health, Donville Inniss

The Ministry of Health’s continued campaign to train its health professionals will be the focus of a closing ceremony, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Entitled Urgent Care/Train the Trainers, the course catered to two groups; doctors and nurses, from July 1 to July 13; and environmental health officers, pharmacists and health promotion officers, from July 7 to July 12. It was designed to upgrade their skills in designing, facilitating and conducting training for their staff, colleagues and the public.

A collaborative effort between the Barbados Community College (BCC) and the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the training emphasised a competence-based approach to health care.??The all-day sessions served to link critical concepts in competence-based education and training to desired outcomes. In addition, participants were provided with opportunities to share their expertise as trainers with their peers.

Minister of Health, Donville Inniss, will deliver an address at the closing ceremony in Conference Room 509, Ministry of Health, Frank Walcott Building, Culloden Road, St. Michael. Principal of the BCC, Dr. Gladstone Best will also be in attendance, as well as officials from the Ministry.
