Community Empowerment through Training and Entrepreneurship is the title of an outreach programme which will be hosted by the St. Andrew Constituency Council for residents of that parish, and surrounding districts.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 5, in the area next to the Belleplaine Supermarket, St. Andrew, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In an effort to empower residents with the know-how to survive the current economic recession, the programme will include presentations on Self-empowerment strategies; Small Business Development / Management and Entrepreneurship; Skills / Vocational Training; Agri-business / Non-traditional products; Horticulture; a Craft Training Demonstration; and Safety in the Home concerns.

There will be also be demonstrations in pottery, jewelry making, basketry, wine making, crochet, sewing, jams & jelly making, floral arrangements and woodcraft.

Persons interested in participating may collect registration forms from the Constituency Council Office which is located in the Welfare Department and Post Office at Belleplaine; from Council members; or by contacting Keith Alleyne at 422-9523/243-7095?? or Randi Browne at 439-8200/ 422-9816/836-0572.

The outreach programme is designed to educate participants on the various income generating activities available across the island, and to develop a spirit of entrepreneurship.
