The 20th anniversary celebrations of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council Barbados got under way yesterday with Minister of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, joining the Council???s members, staff and stakeholders at St. Cyprians Anglican Church for the 8:00 a.m. service.
The service marked the start of a week of activities that will run from November 2 to November 7.
The highlight of the celebrations includes a lecture entitled: Repositioning TVET as the Engine for Economic Growth, to be held on Wednesday, November 5, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, at 7:00 p.m.
That event will be sponsored by the TVET Council and the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Human Resource Development.??The 20th anniversary lecture will be paired with the opening of the 24th Meeting of the Caribbean Association of National Training Agencies (CANTA).
The TVET Council Barbados is one of the three founding members of CANTA, which is the implementation arm of the CARICOM Regional Coordinating Mechanism for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.??The Council???s year-long celebrations will conclude in September 2015.
