The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council Barbados has advised that as a result of the poor response by applicants, the bi-annual TVET Employers Recognition Awards (TERA) 2015 have been indefinitely postponed.

TERA is a national awards competition intended to acknowledge and celebrate employers that invest in workforce training, and thereby increase the amount and quality of training currently provided by employers in Barbados.

The awards were first held in 2011, again in 2013 and had been scheduled for November 2015. In the 2011 TVET Awards, there were 13 finalists and 5 awards given out while in 2013, there were 11 finalists and 6 awards handed out.

Executive Director of the TVET Council, Henderson Eastmond, thanked all the persons who supported the awards programme to date, either by direct involvement or other contribution.

He added: ???We invite you to continue to support the Council as it strives to achieve its mission to develop a competent, certified and competitive workforce in Barbados and the region, through the promotion and coordination of demand driven technical and vocational education and training.???
