For the ninth consecutive time, Barbados will be represented at the Huntsman World Senior Games which takes place in St. George, Utah, USA, from October 8 to 20.

Through the efforts of the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, 22 senior Barbadian athletes, between the ages of 52 and 78 years, will attend the international meet.

The team will be accompanied by Team Manager, Rawle Clarke and Assistant Manager, Anna Shepherd, and will participate in six disciplines.

Representing the country in basketball will be Richard Clarke, Anthony Layne, Lionel Rudder, Stephen Sayers, and Richard Toppin, while Ronald Harding will compete in cycling. Wilmont Goddard and Charles Lovell will do battle at table tennis and Judith Magras will attempt to master archery.

Aiming for victory in tennis are Raymond Forde and George Grant, while the track and field athletes are Janita Austin, Wendy Barrow-Smith, Barney Brathwaite, Atherley Burrowes, Shirley Harper, Ridley Holder, Ainsley Lovell, Mark Norville, Jennifer Swanston-Jones, Reynold Walters, and Pearl Yearwood.

Selection of the athletes is based on a number of criteria, including performances at the National Senior Games and the attainment of qualifying standards based on the best third place time at the Huntsman World Senior Games, since 2004.
