The Economic Affairs Division has advised that those involved in the digital economy sector can now apply for a short-term professional development course in Belgium.

Masterclass in European Digital Economy Regulation will be taught from November 25 to 26, and participants will get an opportunity to receive a clear overview of the regulatory concepts, mechanisms and challenges affecting the sector.

Applicants will also get an insight into the privacy regulatory framework affecting both electronic communications service providers and other types of providers, with a special emphasis on the changes that will be introduced at the EU level; an overview of the protection of consumers when purchasing digital goods and services; and an introduction into the big debates that are shaping discussions surrounding copyright and geoblocking.

Those interested in attending the training should be seasoned regulatory experts who have become specialised in a specific regulatory area, but who wish to refresh their understanding of the broader range of regulatory issues. They may also be individuals who have recently moved into a regulatory position and wish to acquire a rapid grasp of the key debates.

Further information on scholarship benefits and responsibilities, as well as requirements for submission of applications, may be found at http://www.oas.org/en/scholarships/professionaldev.asp.

Applications must be submitted to the Economic Affairs Division by Friday, September 25. For additional information on the course, interested persons may call Richelle Gaskin at 310-1323.??
