Approximately 60 persons from various Government departments and District Emergency Organisations will receive training in damage assessment and how to proceed in the aftermath of a disaster.

The Barbados Statistical Service and the Department of Emergency Management will host a two-day Damage Assessment Workshop on Wednesday, March 14 and Thursday, March 15, at Baobab Tower, Warrens, St. Michael.

Participants will engage in Map Reading, as well as examine the Role of the District Emergency Organisations in the Damage Assessment Exercise and the Role of the Rural Development Commission in a Disaster, among other topics. They will also engage in a field simulation on Thursday.

Training and simulation exercises will continue throughout the year to assist the officers in preparing damage assessment statistics in case of a disaster.
