Two outstanding women who have made significant contributions in the areas of gender and development and women’s rights and equality in Barbados will be rewarded by the Bureau of Gender Affairs as part of its International Women’s Day celebrations.

To this end, the public is being invited to nominate persons for the awards. Nominees should be Barbadian nationals, over 18 years of age, and have contributed richly in a particular field of endeavor which has enhanced women’s development.

Nomination forms should be collected from and returned to the Bureau of

Gender Affairs, Keith Bourne Complex, Belmont Road, St. Michael, by Friday, February 19. Additionally, the forms may be e-mailed to genderbureau@barbados.gov.bb or faxed to 435-4122.

International Women’s Day is commemorated annually on March 8 and the occasion is used to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women.
