Registered occupants living in Urban Development Commission’s (UDC) homes will get an opportunity to show off their best greening concepts while competing for attractive prizes, when the Commission launches its Go Green /Beautification competition next week.

It will be officially launched on Sunday, August 14, during a church service at Abundant Life Assembly, Bank Hall, St. Michael, to kick off the organisation’s week of activities slated to culminate on Friday, August 19.

As part of the contest requirements, occupants are being encouraged to enhance their surroundings under the Go Green Concept, by beautifying their gardens and lawns, planting fruit trees, hedges, flowering plants, shrubs or using recycled materials to enhance the presentation.

Only one entry can be submitted per household and competitors should, at no time, incur any cost that would be attributed to the UDC. Participants must also agree to be photographed and their identities used for promotional purposes.

Householders are reminded that the prizes are not redeemable or transferable for cash or any other equivalent value and they must also agree to permit the judging panel to enter their premises for appraisal purposes and the awarding of prizes on the property.

The grand prize winner will receive a garden enhancement package compliments the National Conservation Commission, the second prize winner will receive a gardening voucher to improve their green thumb; while the third prize will be a garden hamper consisting of small tools and other assorted items.

All entry forms must be addressed to the Director of the UDC, No. 37, Roebuck Street, St. Michael, and submitted by 4:30 p.m. on or before Friday, November, 25.

Further information on the competition may be obtained by calling the UDC at 228-8285, by fascimilie 228-8284 or via e-mail udc@barbados.gov.bb.
