When the Urban Development Commission (UDC) celebrated its Greening Day last Friday, August 27, one of their clients received a special treat from the organisation’s staff.

Livingston Hinkson, a double amputee, was showered with attention when the staff of UDC visited his home at the corner of Scotts Gap and Layne’s Road, Brittons Hill, St. Michael. ??While there, they started work on a garden which included the planting of trees and shrubs around his property.

The initiative, which was a collaborative effort with the National Conservation Commission, was well received by Mr. Hinkson who expressed his appreciation to the staff of the two organisations.

The UDC provided housing accommodation to Mr. Hinkson in January this year after receiving reports that he had been living in an old car at Collymore Rock, St. Michael. He became homeless last year after being discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, following his second amputation.??sharifa.medford@barbados.gov.bb
