??The Urban Development Commission (UDC) celebrated its "Greening Day" today with the launch of its "Go Green / Beautification Competition".

?????????????????? This initiative, which is open to registered occupants of UDC houses only, is designed to encourage persons to think green and plant more. The Commission is

promoting the development of gardens, planting of trees, hedges and flowering plants to beautify the home and the community.

?????????????????? Under the theme "Going Green", competitors must enhance their immediate surroundings with plants and natural vegetation, and may use recycled materials to add to their presentation. The UDC will be giving special consideration to creative approaches in this greening activity, as well as other beautification initiatives in and around the house.

Entry forms can be collected from the UDC office, Roebuck Street, Bridgetown and must be submitted no later than Monday, November 15, by 4:30 p.m. to the Director, Urban Development Commission. The winner will be announced on Monday, November 29.

The grand prize winner will receive a garden enhancement package courtesy of the National Conservation Commission, the second prize will be a gardening gift set, while the third prize will be a garden hamper.
