Newly-appointed British High Commissioner to Barbados, Victoria Glynis Dean, today paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean at her Culloden Road office.
Minister McClean, in welcoming the envoy to Barbados, acknowledged that the two countries had always enjoyed good relations.
???Barbados is a good place to be???We continue to work closely with the UK and the EU??? We will continue to strengthen the ties that we have had over the several years,??? Senator McClean said.
The High Commissioner expressed pleasure at being in Barbados and noted that the top priorities for the Foreign Office would include security, climate change and trade.
The envoy added that the British Government was also interested in ensuring the ???right kind of assistance with respect to disaster management and preparedness??? was offered to Barbados.
The two also discussed issues related to higher education and the global economic downturn.
