Issues pertaining to security, drug trafficking, crime and legal aid were among the areas discussed when newly appointed Minister of State in the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Henry Bellingham, paid a courtesy call on Acting Attorney General, Michael Lashley.

During the recent meeting at the Office of the Attorney General, the envoy mentioned he was working with Caribbean countries to reduce violent and organised crime as well as creating safer communities.

Commissioner of Police, Darwin Dottin, who was present during the call also held talks with Mr. Bellingham about the use of digital and video recordings of detainees and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), an FBI-styled agency established to tackle criminal activity including money laundering, and human trafficking, major gun crimes, fraud, and computer and identity crime.

The Acting Attorney General also touched briefly on this country’s legal aid department and praised the "fine work it is doing".
