The unemployment benefit period, which was temporarily increased from 26 to 40-weeks from August 2010, has been further extended until June 30 this year.
This was announced by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security today. The amendment was implemented under Regulation 50A of the National Insurance and Social Security (Benefits) Regulation.?? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
As a result, the unemployment benefit will be calculated at 60 per cent of earnings for the first 26 weeks. The remaining 14 weeks will be calculated at a rate of 40 per cent of earnings.
