Individuals, institutions as well as non-governmental organisations with projects that represent excellent models; best practices or the creative use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education, can vie for an international award by the United Nations Education and Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

It is The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education and a prize of a diploma and US$50,000 will be shared between two winners whose ICT projects/activities have enhanced learning, teaching and overall educational performances.

The theme is Educating Youth for Responsible Global Digital Citizenship and submissions should reach the Barbados National Commission for UNESCO located at the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael, no later than Friday, March 30.?? Projects will be forwarded to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France by Monday, April 16.

The UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education is sponsored by the Kingdom of Bahrain. It was established in 2005.

These projects/activities could have resulted in the development of original teaching and learning materials and products which promote a learner-centred pedagogy and encourage collaboration and networking in an open and flexible environment; addressed major digital and gender divide issues at the local, national and regional level; or encouraged research and development to facilitate accessibility of technologies for all, including marginalised, disadvantaged and vulnerable people.
