The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is downsizing its office in the English and Dutch-speaking Caribbean, and Director and Representative of the Sub-regional Office, Sheila Roseau, met recently with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, to apprise her of the changes.

During their meeting, which took place in the Minister???s Culloden Road office, Ms. Roseau explained that while staff would be reduced, the countries being served by the UNFPA would still be ably assisted through more targeted programming.

The two also discussed ways that persons could receive training in the work being done by the United Nations so they could have more knowledge of the way the system works.??

Senator McClean pointed out that this was an excellent way for persons to become familiar with the work being done by the UN, and was something that Government could facilitate once the logistics were clearly developed.
