According to Director Of Barbados Meteorological Services, Sabu Best, starting from tomorrow expect to see a pickup in surf conditions along the western sections of Barbados, along the coastline. (Stock Photo)

I want to give an update on the swells and surf conditions expected this weekend.  It is really important.  Currently, the swells and surf conditions on the west coast are pretty normal, flat, pretty good conditions.

But this weekend, there’s a possibility that the surf can pick up on the west coast, because we are expecting northerly swells to come and wrap around on the western coastlines.  So, beaches such as in the areas of Holetown, Sandy Lane, Paynes Bay, Mullins Beach area, Speightstown, you are probably going to see unusual surf activity.

Like we said before, in January, and I continue to say again, if you see unusual surf activity along the beaches, it is advisable not to go into water.  In addition, go to beaches that have on duty lifeguards. That can be very important and lifesaving.

So repeating for this weekend, starting from Saturday, tomorrow, expect to see a pickup in surf conditions along the western sections of Barbados, along the coastline.  So, you are probably going to see some choppy surf conditions along the western areas of the island.  That is Saturday, Sunday, and it could be going into Monday as well.

Obviously, I recommend that you check our website for updates.  We are going to have those areas colour-coded yellow, which means be aware of the conditions.
