By the end of March this year, approximately 130 houses are expected to be completed as part of the Government’s Housing Every Last Person (HELP) Programme.

This disclosure came today from Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley, while touring several of the HELP sites with officials from the Ministry, the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and two Housing Planners from the Villages, a retirement community in Miami, Florida. The planners are here to observe the ongoing housing programme and to offer advice on pending housing projects.

The special features of the Villages project include utilising the zero lot line model, which is a form of cluster housing where individual dwelling units are placed on separately “platted lots”.  They may or may not be attached to one another.

The HELP programme, which began September last year, is currently constructing 32 homes in Marchfield, and 44 in Work Hall, St. Philip; 40 in Four Hill, and 17 in French Village, St. Peter; 51 in Greens, and 65 in Constant, St. George.
