The Barbados Accreditation Council must be the guardian of the tertiary educational sector by ensuring that current and prospective students are not taken advantage of by unscrupulous educational providers.

This was the message sent today by Chairman of the Council, Yvonne Walkes, as she presented the Certificate of Institutional Accreditation to The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

Ms. Walkes added that it meant that all tertiary educational providers must be prepared to show that they are prepared to operate in Barbados in an ethical manner.

???The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus has stepped up to the plate and met this quality challenge head on. Today, we commemorate its success in this endeavour,??? she said prior to handing the certificate over to Pro-Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles.

The Certificate of Accreditation signalled a significant accomplishment for The University of the West Indies on the whole and the Cave Hill campus, in particular. It followed on the heels of the recent accreditation of UWI???s Open Campus last Monday, July 8.

The UWI Cave Hill Campus has been granted institutional accreditation for six years, from 2013 to 2019.
