In its continuing efforts to eliminate the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the Vector Control Unit will be conducting its fogging programme in four parishes next week.

On Monday, June 24, some areas in St. Michael and St. James will be targeted. They are: Warrens Park North & South, Clermont, Reservoir Road, Airlie Tenantry, Hinds Hill, Clerview Heights, Husbands New Development, Crystal Heights, Prior Park, Clover Crescent, Welches Grove, Warrens Crescent and the environs.

The Unit will turn its attention to a number of districts in St. George on Tuesday, June 25. These are Cottage, Hillview, Fairview Heights, St. Judes, Rock Hall, Logan Road, Macaroni Village, Todds Land and surrounding areas.

They will focus on the parish of St. Andrew, on Wednesday, June 26 by going into the following areas – Belleplaine, Babylon Road, Walkers, Lakes, Savannah Road, Isolation Road, Corbins Village, Ermy Bourne Highway and neighbouring districts.

The team will return to St. George and St. Michael on Thursday, June 27 and Friday, June 28 respectively, to carry out more fogging operations. The St. George districts include, South District, Dash Valley, Mapp Hill, Lower Burney, Mount Friendship and the environs. The St. Michael areas that will be targeted are Black Rock, Free Hill, St. Stephen’s Hill, Stanmore Crescent, Ellerslie School Gap, Goddard Road, Plymouth Square, Cave Hill, Hinds Hill, University Drive and surrounding districts.

All fogging runs from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. daily. Householders are asked to assist in the elimination of the deadly Aedes aegypti mosquito by opening windows and doors to allow the fog to penetrate.

Pedestrians and motorists should be cautious when encountering the fogging operations on the street, while persons with respiratory problems are asked to protect themselves from inhaling the fog. Parents are advised to prevent their children from playing in the fog or running behind the fogging machine.
